Offshore Ginjo

A sake born in the surfing Mecca of Shonan. Its signature minerality and freshness will remind you of a sea breeze.

Offshore is a collaboration with the Kumazawa Sake Brewery, located in Shonan in Kanagawa Prefecture. Offshore is a surfing term for a favourable wine blowing out to sea, and a group of young Shonan-raised sommeliers working at wine importer Mottox – the other partner in this collaboration – worked on the product design to make a sake they felt best represented their hometown. Fresh and overflowing with minerality, when you drink Offshore you can almost feel the sea breeze.

Flavour profile

Lilting notes of lemon and melon, light and fresh, carried by a fresh sea breeze. Bursting onto the palate like a ray of sun from the tropics, lemon zest, banana and pineapple surf along a wave of electrifying acidity. An undertow of granular umami richness hints at greater depths beneath, but this sake is sunny, cheerful and packed with youthful energy.

Staff comments

The perfect summer sake. Light citrus notes of lime and a minerality reminiscent of a sea breeze. As the umami unfolds it shows great depth, with an irresistible finish. Serve well-chilled. Serve with whitebait toast or lighter fritter dishes. Enjoy this sake on your afternoon off.
